Record Snow Storm

These are all pictures from after the 23.9 inches of snow on Christmas Day and December 26, 2009. Nearly all the roads were blocked, or closed until this morning, December 27th. Andy, Kristi and family left this morning and have now arrived in Minneapolis area to spent time with Kristi's family.

Please note, there is a window behind the snow drift in the center of the first picture.

Christmas Eve Greetings, New Kitchen

It was a beautiful Christmas Eve day in Grand Forks, with fresh white snow laying on the trees!

This picture is taken from our existing living room, looking into the new addition.

We are ready! All we need now is grandchildren!

We moved into the kitchen last night and this morning. We still need some light fixtures, tile on the backsplash on top of the counter and a microwave. We are getting closer!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Children's Party, House Update

We had Minnkota's family Christmas Party in Grand Forks today. It was a beautiful winter afternoon, and fun to have Connor, Carson and Kaelynn be a part of it.

The remodeling is coming along. All the outside is complete and they should start installing the kitchen cabinets this week. We may be done by Christmas!?!?!?!?

House Update, 11-14-09

The outside work is nearing completion. The only significant item left is the siding under the porch and that will happen when they put in the new door and window in the new kitchen. They should start remodeling the inside next week.

House Update, 11-2-09

This is looking from inside the new addtion. The patio doors face north and will go out to a deck. The left hand windows look directly to the back yard.
The front of the new addition is the dining room expansion and our goal is to match the set of windows in the existing living room with the expanded dining room.

Epxanded dinning room. The gray conduit on the ground is the temporary electical connection which should get installed permanently tomorrow, November 3, 2009.

This is from the back yard. The permanent corner post supporting the porch overhang is not in place yet.

House Update, 10-10-09

This is the crawl space, i.e. about 5 feet in the ground with poly (platic) and pea rock as the base. We will not use this for anything, other than a location for the small furnace and duct work for this area. We will access it throught the existing basement window.

They now have the floor joists and base floor in place.

They put up the exterior walls on Krisanne's birthday, October 8th! An open roof will extend to the left of the new wall (i.e. where the existing patio door is). You can see the kitchen window above the sink is now boarded up.

This is part of the expanded dining room. The two new windows you see will be the same as the windows in the living room (the one living room window is shown on right hand side of the picture).

Foundations and Trucks

These pictures are in reverse order. It started with the big "hose" truck that had a vacuum type elephant nose that sucked up the concrete from the other truck. The "hose" then went over the house to the back, where the concrete was laid in for the foundation. Then after a couple days, the block layers came in to put up the block wall. This area will be the crawl space under the addition.
The "hose" had concrete in it, which was laid in between the boards for the footings for the block wall.

As you can see there was alot of "hose" as it went completely over the house!

It all went pretty fast with these type of trucks and equipment.

Isaac's Tree, Windows, Doors

The new windows and doors have made it a lot brighter look in the enterance.

This is Isaac's tree. We planted the same tree as for Connor and Carson, i.e. a Prarie Spire Ash. Julianna and Kaelynn's trees are Curly Willow and Lydia's is a Golden Crisp Apple. We hope and pray they all will establish firm roots and grow to be strong and healthy.

It may not be obvious, put we replaced the paneling on top of the garage door (paneling under the vertical strips). The overhead garage door is the same, but painted.
