Turtle River State Park , Part 2

This is Part 2 of our Turtle River State Park journey. So look at the previous BLOG to get the background to this.
Kaelynn and Grandma are sitting at the top of the hill prior to their event!
Grandma was a good sport and took her solo run as Connor waits for her at the finish line.

But Grandma too has been watching the Olympics and this turn took her out of competition for the event. But she came back and took a podium position later in the day. She has been practicing all her life to be a Grandma and wasn't going to let one small spill keep her out of the big day!

Connor and Kaelynn were in the starting gate, ready to take on the hill!

This was the victory celebration at the bottom!

Turtle River State Park

It was a beautiful day in ND. Connor, Kaelynn, Grandma and Grandpa went to Turtle River State Park, which is about 20 miles west of Grand Forks. We missed Carson, as he was not able to come this weekend because he had a sore throat and running a temperature. We will go back another time when Carson can be with us too!

Connor found a walking stick to lead us on our journey through the woods. He was a great leader.
Kaelynn was also a great hiker as she walked through the snow with her stick.

After our hike we had hot chocolate and an outdoor picnic.

I think Kaelynn has been watching the Olympics!

Connor and Grandpa hiked up to the mountain top (Ok it isn't a mountain, but give us a break, this is ND!). It was Connor's idea and he led us up the mountain!
He looks like a determined young man!

This is the resort we were at, Arneson's at Rocky Point, north of Roosevelt, Minn.

This is the 25 inch northern I caught.

Andy was the chief cleaner! We ended up with some good meals to come.

Our house was nice and warm with some comfortable beds. It was definitely a "man cave".

We even had a stove to cook on. Andy was talking to Matt when I took this picture.

Fishing Trip, Part 1

This is the end result. I am in the picture before ANDY cleans them!
The house was about 9 X 20 and this is the vehicle we took out to the house. We were about 1.5 miles from shore and basically the only ones out there from sun down to sun rise. It was so quiet and peaceful.

After we catch the fish we would toss them outside, unto the ice. These two pictures were taken on Monday evening, after a full day of fishing. The fish were only biting during the daylight hours, so at night we play cards, play Farkle a dice game and went to bed early.

Andy caught the first fish of the trip, a 23 inch walleye. So that was a good way to start. We weren't really keeping track, but according to my records, he caught to more fish than I did. We caught over 50 fish during the 1.5 days. Mostly walleye and saugers, with 4 prech, one nothern and one bottom feeder fish.

Record Snow Storm

These are all pictures from after the 23.9 inches of snow on Christmas Day and December 26, 2009. Nearly all the roads were blocked, or closed until this morning, December 27th. Andy, Kristi and family left this morning and have now arrived in Minneapolis area to spent time with Kristi's family.

Please note, there is a window behind the snow drift in the center of the first picture.

Christmas Eve Greetings, New Kitchen

It was a beautiful Christmas Eve day in Grand Forks, with fresh white snow laying on the trees!

This picture is taken from our existing living room, looking into the new addition.

We are ready! All we need now is grandchildren!

We moved into the kitchen last night and this morning. We still need some light fixtures, tile on the backsplash on top of the counter and a microwave. We are getting closer!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Children's Party, House Update

We had Minnkota's family Christmas Party in Grand Forks today. It was a beautiful winter afternoon, and fun to have Connor, Carson and Kaelynn be a part of it.

The remodeling is coming along. All the outside is complete and they should start installing the kitchen cabinets this week. We may be done by Christmas!?!?!?!?
